This makes it a totally different ballgame IMO. Had they NOT asked, they should pay every penny. They offered to do it for free to make the sale and try to keep a happy customer... as it turns out they could not complete the transaction. This is a tough one to mediate. They argeed to do it, but for free... it's still an agreement even though no money changed hands over the installation. They SHOULD have done the front sight FIRST. You said they said upfront that XD's can be difficult... upon not being able to do the front sight they should NOT have tried to do the rear sight. They should have called you and went from there... at that point neither of you would be out anything but a bit of time and you could buy the sights installed elsewhere... Hard to say on this one. You DID agree to send the slide in for $10, so at this point you have to live up to an agreement you probably shouldn't have entered into in the first place. Keep in mind if you were to have shipped the slide in you'd be paying more than 10 bucks anyway... Hopefully your dealer and you both learned a lesson here. All the troubles with XD's and night sights are the reason why I haven't had any put on my XD. The horror stories abound and I'm not sure why a person would have anyone other than SA try and install them. If SA installs they you know it'll be done right AND if something screws up they will make it 100%, including refinishing your slide if they have to. I'm going to have mine done in the next month or so... it's going to SA. I'll go back to carrying my USP for a week or two, no big deal to me. I don't want to the next xdtalker to experience these nightmares.

Pretty much this is what I hope people take from this. Just send them to SA right off. Piece of mind is a wonderful thing.
