ND here in Omaha range.

ND by a ignorant guy who didn't check his gun before disassembly. I always here of them in other parts of the country but then this lets you know it can happen anywhere.

Quote:
An accidental shooting wounded a customer at a Sarpy County firing range late Thursday afternoon.
It happened at the Bullet Hole indoor shooting range near 109th and Harrison shortly after 5:30 p.m.
Investigators say another customer was apparently disassembling a gun, unaware that it was loaded. It fired, hitting the other man in the shoulder.
The Sarpy County attorney's office will look over the evidence and consider possible charges. The victim's name and condition have not been released.

Maybe its just me but I never disassemble my guns at the range, never had to anyway and I clean that at home, in an empty room. Double and triple check the firearm is clear. We have a Bullet Hole range here in NJ. Nice place.

Crazy. I got a good friend who lives fairly close to there. I should ask him if he heard about it, or knows more.

If he was trying to disassemble it sounds like he was using a striker fired gun and didn't' clear it before trying to take it apart.

They said in the paper that the guy was doing it at the front counter. The guy that was hit had just walked in the door. He was 10-15ft. from the counter when he was shot.

The paper also said these guys were regulars. Still you'd think you would check it if your taking it apart. He's lucky he didn't kill the guy.
I don't think he's going to be customer of the month any time soon.

I disassemble often at the range to change spring weights. I ALWAYS check the firearm for ammunition though. People and their lack of safety.... I don't get it.

  1. Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
  2. Always point your firearm in a safe direction.
  3. Always keep your finger outside of the trigger guard until you are on target and ready to shoot.
  4. Always be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
These rules didn't apply why? Glad to hear the other guy is physically ok, but he will probably never go back to a range again with confidence if he ever does at all.

Well, my friend heard it, but couldn't offer me any more insights.

It is a shame that negligence that could have easily been prevented, has now scarred someone(s) for life.
