Gun porn!!! Just added some WW2 guns to the collection.

I recently picked up a Mauser 98k and two Mosin Nagants and thought I'd share some pics.

1940 Mauser 98k made by Gustloff Werke, Weimar.

Nazi proofs. I removed the serial number in the picture.

1943 Mosin Nagant 91-30 and 1945 M44, both made at Izhevsk.

Nice stamps on the 91-30 and M44. Again, I removed part of the serial numbers.

Updated Collection...

Nice wood on all of them, especially the M-44

Just a guess, but from the photos, you might have added 2 Russian Mosin Nagants and a 1/2 German - 1/2 Russian K-98. Tons of those K-98s were captured by the Russians after WW2 and many had laminated "upgrade" stocks reworked by the Russians (plus any other parts that needed refurbishing). A friend of mine called them "Russian Swimmers". I have a Similar "K-98" and a Turkish M-38 Mauser I bought at a Big-5 early bird sale (with coupon) for $40! Anyways a impressive collection and one to be proud of. Maybe some Mauser expert on the board can confirm the Russian Swimmer? Looks like you also need a K-98 side mounting sling. It took a while, but I found one at a gunshow for my rifle. A odd detail is that the leather sling looks to have been made in Israel!

P.S. Still curious. How was that P-38? Did you get a chance to shoot it?

EDIT* http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic....495&highlight= Nevermind Excellent Report! Thanks Carlos Somehow I missed it way back in February. Although I don't need one, I have always wanted a P-38

Thanks for the comments. Next on the list are an Enfield and a Garand.

Sure, there's a little bit of money tied up in the collection, but I don't really think about it. I save up money from every paycheck and when I have enough, I buy a gun. Sometimes it one gun a year (M-4), and sometimes I can buy several per year. I only dip into savings if there's a deal I can't pass up, and then I pay it back. I'm also old and have been buying guns for a long time.

The one thing I find a little troubling is keeping up with the different ammo: 22LR, 7.62x25, 9x18, 380ACP, 9x19, .40S&W, 45ACP, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, 5.56mm, 7.62NATO, 7.62x39, 7.62x54, & 8mm.

Hobocircus, I have to tell you, the M-44 has beautiful wood. Hard to believe a gun in that condition was $79.

A Mauser guru on another board broke down all the codes for me and you are right, my Mauser is a Russian capture 98k. He did say however, that the stock is German and all the remaining parts are German, not Russian. The serial number on the barrel and receiver match, plus a few smaller parts, but the rest do not match. I was not so interested in having a 100% all matching gun as much as I wanted a gun in good condition with all German parts and with a very good bore. I also wanted an early war model, before the quality of the machining went down.

A sling and bayonette will be future add-ons.

Nice 98K! That 337 code on the receiver is thought to be from Gustloff Werke, Weimar...but it has never been proven. A rare code. The "X" on the receiver is a dead give away for a Russian captured piece.

I love the two tone Hi-Power in your collection photo...how does it shoot?

PS: You need a Luger and a Garand and you're done.

Done? What? Where's the Enfield? Where's the SVT-40? Where's the M38? How about a 91/30 Tula and Izzy, a round and a hex receiver, a Remington 91? Finnish and Hungarian mosins? The Yugo mausers? The Chicom and Russian and Romanian SKS's? Spanish and Turkish mausers? Swiss straight pull bolt rifles?

As a gun owner, I'd have expected you to know better than to say a collection is done.

All the same, still a very nice, very impressive collection.

The two-tone HiPower is a .40S&W HiPower Practical model. It is the easiest .40S&W I have to shoot and the most accurate. I like the looks too. Here's a better pic of him and his 9mm brother..

I'll have a Garand before the end of the year. The Luger will have to come much later as the prices are a kind of high.

Opps...my bad...yep, he also needs a Swede Mauser, M-1 Carbine, 03 Springfield and a K-31 in there with the Enfield and SVT-40.
