Daughter and Boyfriend suspected of killing 6 family members

Quote:
CARNATION, Wash. - Six people, likely three generations of a family, were found dead Wednesday at a rural property east of Seattle, and a law enforcement official said police arrested the property owners' daughter and her boyfriend.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the names, said the pair were Michele Anderson, 29, and her boyfriend, Joseph McEnroe.

Both were booked into the King County Jail late Wednesday for investigation of six counts of homicide.

After investigators came to the crime scene this morning, the pair arrived there, were questioned by investigators, then arrested around 4 p.m.

Investigators had not determined a motive in the slayings and no weapon has been found, said King County sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart.

The victims included a boy about age 3, a girl about age 6, a man and woman in their 30s, and a man and woman in their 50s or 60s. Their names were not released, but they were "likely three generations" of one family, Urquhart said.

Autopsies have not been performed on the bodies, but the cause of death was apparently gunshots, Urquhart said. They were likely killed late afternoon or early evening on Christmas Eve, he said.

The property where the bodies were found is owned by Wayne Scott Anderson, 60, and Judy Anderson, 61, according to public records.

Citing friends and neighbors, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer on its Web site said the two were among the six victims found on the property. Wayne Anderson was an aerospace engineer with The Boeing Co., and his wife, Judy, worked at the U.S. Post Office.

The couple has three children, including a daughter, Michelle, who lives on the property in a mobile home, said Mark Bennett, who identified himself as a family friend. He said another daughter, Mary, and a son, Scott, live in the area.

A call to 911 was made from the house in the early evening on Christmas Eve, but the call broke off after about 10 seconds, Urquhart said. The operator reporting hearing "a lot of yelling in the background ... sounded more like party noise than angry heated arguing."

But when deputies arrived at the scene, they stopped at a locked gate.
"They didn't go past it," Urquhart said. "I don't know why yet. That's one of the things we're looking into."

A concerned co-worker discovered the bodies about 8 a.m. Wednesday. The co-worker went to the home after Judy Anderson failed to show up for duty at the office, the P-I reported.

'Didn't want to believe'
Family friend Mark Bennett said he spoke with the couple on Christmas Eve and tried to call them Christmas Day but could not reach them. He told reporters he came to the property Wednesday morning after seeing the home on television news.

"I didn't want to believe what I heard and saw, so I drove over," he said.
Bennett said the Andersons have three children. One daughter, Michelle, lives on the property in a mobile home, he said.

Bennett said he used to run a coffee shop with another daughter, Mary, who lives in nearby North Bend. A son also lives in the area, he said.
The bodies were found on a rural property that includes a house and a mobile home at the end of a long dirt road in a heavily wooded area. The home is part of a cluster of other properties near this town about 21 miles east of Seattle.
Is this a good enough reason to carry when visiting family? Not that any of us would suspect a family member to do something like this, but how can people blindly think they're completely safe outside when stuff like this happens at home?

The officers took about 30 minutes to arrive and violated department policy when they failed to identify the 911 caller.

I'm not sure how Urquart determined that this wasn't an issue.

Probably that they were already dead by the time LEO arrived. SECONDS count. If only one of the 4 adults carried, it may have been different. As usual, the LEO only arrive to take pictures of the bodies.

The nephew of the daughter accused of killing her parents and other relatives said that the daughter didn't feel loved and appreciated enough - that she was pushed out of everyone's life. He also mentioned that money might be a motive as the parents/grandparents had some money. But, apparently, this is the same daughter who lived in a trailer on the property.

Well there was this time where I nearly shot my mothers, sistsers step son, but that was based upon him holding a semi-auto to my sisters head and laughing, I think he needs a visit from the guys in the little white suits. Unfortunately when my parents retirement plan is wrapped up with my mothers sister (she isn't a relative of mine) they refused to let me do such a thing (I was a dependant at the time) One of my top 3 reasons for a CCW

Private property and Sheriffs offices are much different than some city apartment building. Those of us who live rural understand the laws in some states (I don't know about washington) but 'department policy' doesn't trump the laws. The deputies and dispatcher may acted accordingly given the nature of the call as it's being relayed... considering they were unable (I would assume by the way the event is described) never able to recontact the residents and a party seemed to be going on the deputies should have proceded on foot... but once again department policy on 9-1-1 call like that vs private property rights and laws come into play.

Donno, but I'm not jumping on the deputies (at this point) for failing to investigate further. Crap happens. Always have a gun. ALWAYS. When seconds count, police are minutes (or in this case half an hour) away.
