I am contemplating putting night sights on one or more of my guns. I know very little about these. Gun shop owners here say put 'em on, but they don't really help!!!!???? Any guidance/input is greatly appreciated.

1st question are you wanting them to glow all the time or only when you put a light on them or when there maybe a little light.
I have a set of Trijicon on mine, but looked at changing them to XS Sights. I just have not had the funds to do it. Just see if you can find a couple of different brands to look at before making your decision. ajames can help you install them, that is who did mine. I know there are others out there that could help you with installation.

Like hell it doesn't help. True there should be no difference between them and regular blade and notch sights during the day BUT at night is where they come in handy hence the name "night/low light sights".
Now there are some that will enhance aiming during both the day and at night such as Tru-Glo's TFOs. But Trijicons are just like a normal set of sights that have tritium inserts in them. Hope this helped shed some light on the situation. No pun intended.

I have TruGlo TFOs (Tritium Fiber Optic) sights and they're great for day and night shooting. The fiber optic gathers light and they glow during day light and the tritium lights up the fiber optic tubes so you can see them very well at night.

I have TruGlo TFOs on both my XD9 and XD45. They definitely make a difference.

+1 to each comment! I have TFO's on two of my most used guns and like their versatility!

Dawson has some nice sights that you might want to look into. Novak sights are the best ones I know of, but your gun has to have some maching work done to accept those sights. Tru Glo are good, but I have heard of the front sight falling out once in a while.

I got the factory Trijicon's on my XD9. They're pretty good. When the lights get low, they glow just enough.
Light gathering ones would be better but personally, I do not like them as I find the light tube rather annoying. I should get them for my IPSC guns, though. Or maybe just a front with the Trijicon rears like some guys have. Then again, personally I don't like any dot type sights since I grew up with adjustable irons and find any style dots just plain weird to aim with.

I've got a pair of trijicon tritium sights on my 40SC; They have the white ring around the tritium so they work decently during the day, but dusk and darker they can't be beat.
