Is the "Merry Christmas" tide turning again?

I have noticed something rather strange and exciting this year, I have had more random people say "Merry Christmas" to me this year than all of the last 5 yrs combined.

I welcome this wholeheartedly and have been on a personal mission over the last few years to be sure I said "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" at every chance I had. I decided that people are welcome to say what ever they want back to me, but I was still gonna say it.

What has been your experience this year?

Oh and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

I'm with you on the mission to say, "Merry Christmas." I've noticed that people around here don't generally say it unless I do first. Usually they'll say, "Happy Holidays," and I'll come back with, "Merry Christmas." They usually brigthen up a bit and say, "Merry Christmas to you, too." This has occurred more often than not.

I think that in the world of PC culture/speech, people don't want to offend others by using the proper name for this holiday because it is a Christian holiday. But, well, so what??? It's a Christian holiday, so say "Merry CHRISTmas" and be on your way.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

joe

I just returned from Havana...yes, Cuba. (I traveled there legally with the permission of both governments.) Although this was my 12th trip it was the first time I have ever seen Christmas trees in hotels and restaurants. Christmas lights on buildings, and Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas" on the Muzak systems!

I say Merry Christmas as much as I can because that is what I celebrate.

If someone wishes me happy holidays or happy Hanukkah or happy whatever I'm thankful also. I think that people need celebrate life and who really cares about the label.

People that are offended by someone wishing them a blessing are morons anyway, so why waste time caring about what they think.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!!!!!

I have been on the same mission of greeting everyone with a Merry Christmas! I have not noticed an increase of replies. Everyone should at least reply with what ever they celebrate. Whatever it is Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa anything is better than "happy holidays".

Its been the unsolicited "Merry Christmas" that has blown me away this year! AND I LOVE IT!!!!

And 714XD, that is exactly how I feel, people need to quit cowering their beliefs and need to start wearing them proud regardless of what they might be! I am in no way trying to throw this in the face of anyone who does not celebrate Christmas, but for the love of all that is right, we have gone down a real bad path in the last several years and it is time for the madness to stop!

I feel crappy even ranting about it at this time of the year...

Again, Merry Christmas all!!

Steve

Merry Christmas! Every time someone says, "Happy Holidays" to me, I quickly reply, "Merry Christmas and God bless you!"

I know, it is very militant of me.

I have only had one instance where I
encountered a non Merry Christmas.

It was two persons, man and wife ringing
the bell for the Salvation Army in front of
a local business. I dumped some change
into the pot and was greeted with, "Thank
you and Happy Holidays". I confronted them
both, and let them know that kind of "H H"
PC crap doesn't cut around me and I asked
for my money back if they could not say
"Merry Christmas". My lecture worked.
