Recommended .40 Practice Round?

I'd like to get some recommendations on .40 cal practice rounds. The only requirement is non-steel and non-aluminum cartridge casings, and no lead ball. Possibly looking to purchase in mass but not necessairly. Price is obviously a factor. Thanks in advance.

I like Blazer Brass 180 grain fmjs.

My Glock 22, XD-40 and 96F Beretta eat them up like mad. They feed just fine and are not as filthy as the WWB stuff.

Every Wal Mart I go in carries these and they run about 7.50 a box...not too bad and easy to find if you ask me.

Well, I shoot mainly lead ball through not only my XD45, 1911, but also thru my G22 & G27. I reload & save tons this way....any reason why you want to stay away from lead?

Otherwise, the best deals I've found is usually at Walmart.....Blazer Brass.

There are a lot of reasons to stay away from lead if you shoot indoors.
Most ranges have banned exposed lead projectiles and if you shoot very often there is a very real chance of getting lead poisoning from the dust in the air and all over everything.

I shoot a Montana Gold 180gr FMJ w/ 4.8gr Titegroup in my .40 Service.
WWB is good, S&B is better and still very cheap.

$7.50??? Damn, they are about $10/50 here and in New Mexico.

I agree with Blazer, I think they are about the best bang for your buck.

40's and 45's are just too easy to reload to even consider buying factory rounds. but when i did buy i bought WWb and bazer brass. i think the WWB is a higher quality round and it has a actually copper jacketed where as the blazer is copper plated with only a thin coat of copper and if you look at the 2 the WWB has a smoother bullet where the blazer has all sorts of little dings and such which i would think would be because of the copper plateing. but odds are you probably wouldnt be able to tell a difference. but you should get the ones with the brass cases and save them and that way when you decide to reload you will already have a lot of cases

Yea my agency doesn't allow it for my duty weapon. They provide me with just enough ammo to requal, but I have to buy my own to practice with. Can't use reloads either.

Well, my agency is the same way......but what the heck, I still shoot what I can afford and lead is the way for me. I told my Chief & head Firearms Instructor (I'm just one of three F.I.'s at my Dept.) that if I blew up my gun, I'd simply buy them a new one........

We shoot outdoors, so lead poisoning is not an issue with me.
