I put together a little ak build site and consolidated all of the the things I have read and learned over the past few years using dreamweaver. I wish I would have made more videos when I rented my last flat bending jig. Anyways how do I go about purchasing a domain name?

I went through Yahoo! because the service has a reputation for very high 'up time' and good bandwidth.

i get my domains at godaddy.com and use csoft.net for hosting

I am using www.ixwebhosting.com IIRC I am paying 3.95 a month for IIRC 100GB of storage and 1000GB of bandwidth/month. My domain was free for the first year and I can extend that a year at a time for free too. My website is in my signature if your curios.

123cheapdomains.com is who i go though. I HATE godaddy, they have too much sh*t in the way when you want or NEED to get to critical information like nameservers / ect ect.

Phenominet.com is who i use for hosting, and who I send my clients too. In the past 4 years of hacing my personal portfolio online, they have had only 6 1/2 minutes of downtime for updates. that's it. Super fast with email responces, and tons of free scripts that come with your account.

Anyway, I would highly reccomend both if you want exelent control of your accounts.

Domain names are granted by ICANN through registrars. Here is the gateway to accredited registrars for various top level domains. Click through to the list for the top level domain that you want or simply select one from the main list. If the organization offering the domain isn't on the list, don't use them.

There are plenty of registrars for you to choose from.
