Interesting, especially in light of the often repeated "Our police are outgunned!" or "The bad guys have more firepower!" Since firepower is a function of accuracy, or hits on target, and the police officer was the only one to score hits on target, it appears to me as if the BG with the AK was outgunned, that the officer had the firepower.

Nice write up. It's refreshing from time to time to see a somewhat unbiased report without hyping the "big, scary, out-of-control assault weapons" blah, blah, blah... Granted, I think the website itself a gun-friendly zone, but it's still nice to see. Bad guys are bad period and the AK didn't shoot itself. Good job on the part of the officer...it's kind of surprising he didn't get wounded with all the shots fired at him.

I'd like to see a follow-up on just what kind of Nutjob this guy was. He sounds like he was far gone into some Paranoid Delusions. I'm just wondering if there was any reason (however tweaked out) for him to pull a gun. Was there anything illegal in the car? Was he on drugs or Meds? What had been going on in his life leading up to the incident? Did he have any history of violent or bizaare behavior?

Glad the Officer wasn't hurt. This also brings up the (God Bless Us Everyone) 9mm issue. Three hits in the neck and upper back and the guy recovers? I'm surprised the officer didn't put one in the dude's medulla for good measure. The guy certainly earned it (or 99 years).

This happened 3 miles from my house. They said the perp was suicidal and wanted to get shot by a cop.
He basically had the cop cornered and could've killed him, but ended up getting shot twice or three times.
From what was said on the local news, looks like the cop got lucky as heck.

Wow. Makes some kind of sense now. I couldn't figure how 30 plus rounds of 7.62x39 could all miss at "Traffic Stop" distances. That is one lucky lucky Police Officer.
