I live here in Tn where Ft.Campbell is and so far they will stay open. But in Smyrna Tn they are supposed to close an Air National Guard Wing that has been therre for like since 1930 something. Man , Since we got this new president , raw steel, lumber, most building supplies, gasoline, cost of living, and so on ,,, has went up drasticly in price! Now lots of people who work on bases and stuff like that will suffer job loss's and the communities where they are located since they rely on the military commerce of their personel to shop there and all. And the damn U.S. lets all the damn illegals just come on in here to our country and get medical for free and draw a check every month while guys like us struggle to make ends meet by working 2 or more jobs! What the hell has this country become? Its like a damn crack-hooker hotel just my $.02

Thanks, tbhahn.

How long until bases are up for BRAC review again? Is it 6 years?

I was glad to see that Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville survived. I would miss driving by it everyday.

I, personally, am trying to do my part to defend this country. So, in response to BRAC, I am going to continue to fund Preacher's Arsenal.

I definitely sympathize with communities that will lose jobs as a result of base closure, but the bottom line is efficiency and cost-effectiveness for the DoD. If an installation is kept open even though its mission could be effectively carried out at an existing facility, it's just wasteful.

Looking at the list, there really aren't any major installations closing. I see a lot of reserve centers and naval air stations. ...oh , and I seriously doubt Ft Campbell will ever close.

I like going to Redstone. The surrounding area is very beautiful. (Not the run-down apartments, but the mountains.)

The drive from Tenn. to Huntsville on U.S. 72 is a great change of scenery.

If you live near one of these closures, watch for the auctions that happen right before they move. Sometimes you can get some great equipment and tools for pennies on the dollar.

well when you live in a community that has a base it is pretty much word of mouth , and you could get ijn touch with the chambber of commerce or even going out to the base yourself by getting a visiters pass.

Our government is doing more for Iraq's security than ours.

I guess they didn't mention WHICH homeland.
