Security guard in Colorado shootings

She did a good job. Just saw an interview with her. And the local authorities admit if she wasn't there it would have been much worse as the gunman had an assault weapon with alot of "clips"... I hate when they say that... and a few handguns.
So they can admit a security guard saved lives but they cannot admit that an armed citizenry can do even better..???

I'm surprised more isn't being said about her. She is a hero who saved many lives. Does anyone know if she was a licensed security guard or an off-duty cop or what? The foxnews article I read said she was a church member and was volunteering as a security guard. I'm just very curious, and am surprised the news isn't focusing in on her at all.

Okay, now I see that she is a former police officer. Is there any difference between her volunteering as a security guard and carrying a firearm and just a regular joe (not former cop) doing the same? Or would that be a no-no?

There's more coming out now. Drudge has a few links posted--here's one that gets her reactions to the situation:

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news...80/detail.html

It says she was a LEO in Minneapolis during the '90's. Another bit I've read is that there were two other guards to ran toward the shots, one of whom was a Vietnam vet who ended getting shot in the leg and catching shrapnel while trying to distract the gunman from the people trying to get away.

Here's a link about the vet (courtesy of Michelle Malkin's site):

Interestingly, there were two other armed guards on-scene before the lady showed up, but they both appear to have been unwilling to open fire.

Wow, he was carrying a 1,000 rounds. How do you carry a 1,000 rounds of ammo??

She did an excellent job of taking him down. I'm curious how she announced herself? Wonder if she just said security?
