Yes, we'd enter onto property and check sheds, bushes, cars....other easy hiding places, & we'd knock on doors and ask permission to search the residence....especially if we noticed an open window.

The open window thing to me sounds like probable cause. I would want the police to come to my home in such a case. But fully tac'd out swat roaming the streets and entering your house and telling you to leave your home sounds heavy.

First of all I haven't heard the whole story, so I'm flying solo here.....We don't enter houses unannounced and force citizens to leave their house without just cause.

It would be explained to the homeowner that a murder suspect was loose in the neighborhood and since your basement window was opened, we'd like to check the house for your safety. We ain't searching drawers, under carpets...etc...only places that a person could hide.

Besides, since we are trying to check a whole neighborhood, we won't be very long in your house....just a quick interior scan.

I just found out the deputy that was shot is my Aunt's ex-husband. Small world I guess. He heard what he thought were firecrackers and walked out of his house to see what was going on and got shot in the leg. From what my Aunt said he is doing good.

edit: My Mom says she thinks his current wife owns the dog groom shop he was coming out of.

Last I heard they were preparing to arrest two suspects. I'll see what news I can get from her late tonight.
