Question

Maybe I don't understand what happened here. Police lock down a neighborhood, swat goes onto peoples property, enters peoples homes and tells them to leave their homes. No mention of warrants. All because an off duty sheriffs gets shot and wounded? Maybe the story is missing something?

People get shot all the time. But only when it is a LEO does swat perform house to house inspections with neighborhood lockdowns? I don't understand. Seems a little inequitable. Like I said, maybe I'm missing something.

I have a gun on me at almost all times. If it is not on me, one is within arms reach. Bad mojo has a way of catching you at the time you least expect it so you need to be prepared all the time.

Warrant? I didn't think a warrant was required when "in hot pursuit" so to speak.

If B.G. comes in my home I sure as HE double L hope the Leo's don't diddle around getting a warrant!

Same here, when in the living room, it's on the lamp stand immediately next to me. If I'm up doing stuff, I usually carry it, but, if I'm just sitting watching a game or whatever, it's on the stand.

If the guy was shot and the suspect was considered to still be hiding in a certain area, it wouldn't matter if it was an LEO shot or civilain, we'd still conduct a canvass search of the area to find the scumbag. O.k. I admit, if it was an LEO we'd be a little more aggressive.....

Yes, we'd enter onto property and check sheds, bushes, cars....other easy hiding places, & we'd knock on doors and ask permission to search the residence....especially if we noticed an open window.

Personally I would not except anything less! As a former LEO I was involved in several neighborhood searches. Usually the homeowners were calling asking to make sure we checked their homes.

As far as being more aggressive if an LEO has been shot, there several reasons for that. One: it's like a member of your family is the victim. Two: any BG that will shoot a cop will have no problem shooting a civilian. It is paramount to get them, one way or the other, as soon as possible.
