I'm still waiting for the CMP to ship mine. They're very non-communitive, methinks. I've emailed them several times to no avail.

Anyway, I got a SA RG M1, and I'll be sure to post pics when I get it...I'm excited...

Have you tried posting your question over on the sales section of the CMP forum?

email works sometimes. I like to do it the old fashioned way and just call. You'll get a faster response and maybe share a laugh or two.

Right on mr0w1! Let us know what you get and pictures when you get it. There's nothing better than a M1 being delivered to your doorsteps. Well, maybe one thing might beat that...opening the box!

Yeah, I'll never forget opening that box and just standing there and gawking at the thing. What a piece of history. We really fielded a great rifle in WWII.

You have to shoot it, though. The Garand is a fun rifle to shoot. It makes the 30-06 actually tolerable for long range sessions. I could put 100s of rounds through my M-1 in one range session...yeah...its THAT fun!

I've got one up on you - it's better when you live close enough to the CMP that you can go handpick your own Garand (and drool over the dozen or so racks of Garands).

I know the feeling; I've got my C&R and I've fairly frequently got guns just showing up on my porch. In fact, I just got another K31 today

This thought came to mind: how can CMP ship rifles straight to your home and not have to ship them to the buyer via a FFL dealer? They have some kind of exemption or do the M1s and other rifles they sell fall under some other classification?
