I think the Taurus that he must have been looking at was the Taurus 851BUL

Specs here MSRP is $414

It comes in at a whopping 17 oz. That is pretty light. I have the regular old Taurus 85

I like it just fine, but I admit, I don't have a lot of rounds through it yet.. I havn't even gotten to the 400 round I can depend on it mark yet. MSRP $375. (I got it brand new for $269 out the door.) It weighs a little more.. 21 oz, but to me, that is not a big deal. It is not an ideal "pocket" gun though.. because of the hammer. I will carry it in a IWB holster.. if it ever gets here. I don't mind the heavy trigger pull.. although that is adjustable.. the manual tells you how to do it. It gives me a sense of safety. This thing is only going off if I really want it to!

There is a hammerless version, without the alloy frame that might be for you.. err. I mean your wife..

Taurus 850B MSRP $383

Anyway.. have fun looking around.. and have fun shooting it.
