Oh, I see you're in Iowa. No wonder you're so popular!

I agree with Dobbs and took him up on this a few years ago.

Some comments about Lou Dobbs' appearance here:
Dobbs came down hard on both parties, saying they were mirrors of each other and opposite wings of the same bird. He's saying the same thing that Nader has been saying for some time now. The event was not that well-attended. Apparently, it was poorly-advertised. Plus, I guess the local paper published a very critical and biased article against Dobbs in yesterday's paper. The crowd was almost entirely white - very little diversity. When Dobbs was introduced and he stepped onto the stage, he got a standing ovation from many in the crowd. There were some Ron Paul supporters in the audience. Dobbs said he thought Edwards and Paul were the only candidates talking about what the real problems are in the country. He doesn't necessarily support Paul though, I don't think. He actually predicted that a new, independent-populist candidate would emerge to win the 2008 election. He did not know at this time who that would be. He recited a number of statistics. Among them: 96% of our clothing in this country is imported There are 2 million legal immigrants in this country The U.S. has a $6 trillion trade debt The top two items exported by the U.S. are soybeans and scrap Dobbs mentioned in response to a question from the audience about oil that OPEC was already moving dollars to the Euro. And, China is as well. One question to Dobbs was from someone who obviously didn't like Dobbs at all mentioned the low turnout, the lack of diversity in the audience, called Dobbs a natavist and racist, etc. Lou invited him to come to the front of the room and voice his concerns. The guy is a member of a group that gives care to illegals after they cross the border into this country. There was some back and forth between Enrique and Lou. Lou at one point asked the guy what was wrong with asking the Mexicans who want to come here to do so legally. The guy responded that many of the people are too poor to go through the necessary process and channels to apply for visas. I felt sympathy at first for the people who feel stuck and can't afford to do anything about it. But I thought about this later, and it occurred to me, "Well, why don't they march and protest in their own country to try to get their own government to do something different?" That's the only way that anything is going to change. Why should they expect that the U.S. should change to make their lives better? And Lou described the relationship between the U.S. and Mexico as that of a parent and a child, and that both needed to grow up and change the relationship. I agree.

Lou's my hero when it comes to immigration issues. The man is right on! Etta, how many legal immigrants came here with nothing but the clothes on their back? Don't buy that "poor" crap from the illegal loving crowd. Next, they'll be trying to sell you the NAU.
