It's a French thing, Ish!

A little warning, I finally convinced my girlfriend to shoot with me a couple of months ago. She has gone with me to the range but only shot my XD-9 one time and said " I don't like it, the recoil is to much. Well I was a little disappointed but never forced the issue. Time passed, and I am sure you have heard about the terrible home invasion in Chesire Conn that made national news. It hit as close to home as it can get. A couple of days later she said she was ready to try shooting again. This time I showed her some video's on you tube and some other sites, showing woman shooting, proper stance, and proper grip. It made the world of difference, this time she was informed and knew some shooting basics and what to expect. She had a great time and demanded a trip to the gun store. I tried pushing the XD-9 sc, but soon realized like others here have said. It's not up to you, let her pick the one that fits her. My girlfriend picked the g26 and loves it.
Well now comes the warning. She will become a gun addict. Hear my warning this precious girl of mine saw the SA website and is now in love with the 1911 loaded champion 4". http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?version=20
An F'n 1911 loaded.......
God I don't even have a 1911, hell I'm debating trading in my XD-9 for the XD45. So be prepared my friend for the spending will be deep. Get her informed and let her choose, and gain a great shooting buddy.
Oh also.
I will be damned if my girl gets a 1911 before I do.

My wife and I both laughed at this story. After showing my wife the gun your girl likes, she said "It's pretty." Figures.

I just bought my first gun last month and it is a .22 caliber Beretta Neos. It's sort of an unusual looking gun, but I think it's kind of cool.

Here is mine:

My plan is to practice with this gun and get really accurate and then step up to a 9mm. I just wrote about this gun in the Non XD area.

It's quite easy to shoot, so that has been good.

I was sort of freaked initially by the whole gun thing - shopping for them at the store, going to the range - everything. When I first held a gun at the store and started contemplating buying one, I felt almost giddy - like WTF am I doing??!! I was entering a totally alien culture.

The first time at the range, I was shocked by the sound of the other guns around and the whole process - seeing all of the shells on the floor, interacting with the other people. I took it all very seriously at that point though, and I shot the gun that way.

The whole experience has been very interesting.

The gun will be primarily to familiarize her with handguns, the ultimate decision is down to her on fit and caliber.
