It doesn't look black to me, the picture was taken at night. I grew up in FL, the Mecca of pools. I've seen plenty of gators in white pools and under cars. If it's filled with water gators will hang out in it.

It ISN'T black--that's the point. In a black-painted pool it's hard to see a gator, so diving in could carry a bigger penalty than just getting wet.
