God I hate those TV shows where the women carry big handguns in large OWB holsters and they get a lot of shots of them walking with it bulging off their belts.... but when they are wearing form-fitted sport jackets, golly NO bulge!
Except Katherine Willows on CSI. She can do anything she damn well pleases.

Hollywood- so many guns, so little logic... ( refering to how Hollywood glorifies firearms, then how so many of the the producers and stars are anti gun )

I took some friends of mine to the range earlier this year.
They came to Texas from NYC. Neither had ever held or fired a pistol before. After some basic safety stuff at the house we went to the range. I warned them that this experience may ruin some of the their TV and movie watching. They couldn't believe the difference in the reality of actually shooting a handgun as opposed to what they see on TV. The recoil, the fact to have to reload (no endless ammo), and number 1, The NOISE. I only had 9mms at the time so we rented an XD45acp and a 357mag revolver. I also told them the fact that most guns don't make any noise as drawn from a holster as in the movies. Now a Beretta or something with a thumb safety might, but in general, any gun drawn in a movie/TV show makes a clicking noise. Also in the movies when someone racks a round on a pump shotgun for dramatic emphasis. Does that mean they held it at first with a spent round or empty chamber? The entertainment industry stinks. Let the writers stay on strike. F 'em. Anyway, a fun time had by all. Enough of me. Last edited by 1lowlife; 11-10-2007 at 10:59 PM. |

To their credit, its not the writers. Its the continuity and art people. Whenever its practical (IE: I am not low man on the totem pole trying to tell people what to do) I like to give instruction on proper firearm presentation etc. I showed one actor the other day the proper high hold grip and trigger finger placement.

Yeah, please tell them you hold the gun up HIGH on the grip!
Other than constantly pointing the guns at each other, this bugs me the most.

I wish actors who take roles regarding firearms would do some research in the area before they start performing. I do my part to change perception of firearms on whatever set I work on. I have an open offer to any of my co-workers to take them to the range and let them fire one of my three pistols provided they pay the range and ammo costs. (they can fire without a FOID card provided I am present and supervising).

A little saying I heard:
Everyday people wish they were movie producers, producers wish they were writers, writers wish they were directors, directors wish they were actors, and actors wish they were people. |
