Please ID this

My fiancee's grandfather lives in a neighborhood that used to be a military camp back in the day, he was digging in his back yard and found this... anyone know what it is?

It was discovered in Camp Taylor in Kentucky.. Camp Taylor was used in WWI to train soldiers... The round was dug about about 10 years ago and im guessing its from the early 1900's

Usual warnings about unexploded ordinance should go here of course. It's an artillery shell, and might be a dummy from the looks of it.

well i just measured it and its 3.5 inch's in diameter so about 88.9 MM

Thats what I was wondering I'm pretty much trying to figure out weather or not the bomb squad is going to show up at my door one day or if this thing will blow up if dropped to hard...

round.
