(PV) An Open Letter to Ron Paul
Friday, October 26, 2007
An Open Letter to Rep. Ron Paul Posted by: Michael Medved at 6:30 PM Dear Congressman Paul: Your Presidential campaign has drawn the enthusiastic support of an imposing collection of Neo-Nazis, White Supremacists, Holocaust Deniers, 9/11 “Truthers” and other paranoid and discredited conspiracists. Do you welcome- or repudiate – the support of such factions? More specifically, your columns have been featured for several years in the American Free Press –a publication of the nation’s leading Holocaust Denier and anti-Semitic agitator, Willis Carto. His book club even recommends works that glorify the Nazi SS, and glowingly describe the “comforts and amenities” provided for inmates of Auschwitz. Have your columns appeared in the American Free Press with your knowledge and approval? As a Presidential candidate, will you now disassociate yourself, clearly and publicly, from the poisonous propaganda promoted in such publications? As a guest on my syndicated radio show, you answered my questions directly and fearlessly. Will you now answer these pressing questions, and eliminate all associations between your campaign and some of the most loathsome fringe groups in American society? Along with my listeners (and many of your own supporters), I eagerly await your response. Respectfully, Michael Medved (from townhall.com) Now let's see what kind of gobbledygook Paul responds with, if he responds at all.

Medved knows the answer to his ignorant question. He's being nothing more than a sh*t disturber.

Honestly I find it no different than Hillary being asked to distance herself from Moveon.org

Which she isn't about to do. Too much money involved. As Mark Twain so aptly put it..."It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native criminal class except Congress."

Hell no she won't. That is fine though. There are a lot of democrats that will be pissed off by this and perhaps not vote for her.

But I did a little homework on Ron Paul, and while I can see his appeal to those of us who think radical change is needed, I'm not really fond of his apparent one-answer view on the issues. For the most part, his answer to most issues is to take the government out of it. Including campaign finance reform and term limits. I don't see how NOT regulating these things is going to fix them, just doesn't make sense to me.
As far as I could tell, his answer specifically to finance reform is to take the power away from government to regulate it? How that would stop special interest groups from running amuck with unlimited contributions and financial manipulation of media is beyond me. I agree whole heartedly that we need to downsize the 'business' of government as well as the 'power' of government, responsibly. But I don't see this as the end-all answer to the problems in government like Ron Paul seems to. Also, while there may be a romantic appeal to traveling back in time or attempting to return to what was 150+ years ago; I don’t really want to do that myself. Modern times require diversified solutions and sometimes modern solutions. There just isn’t one answer that is going to fix it for us.

Unfortunately, when you are in debate or interview, you cannot always answer as fully as you would like.
I suggest for those interested in in-depth views by Paul on various subjects, visit http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/
