saw my first live coyote!

i was comeing home from a club in charlotte right in the middle of urban sprawl and this huge coyote crossed the road and stopped right in front of me not 8 feet away i happend to have my XD 9s but my car was angled so i couldnt shoot him...i dont think iwas in the city limits so i might have got in trouble there but coyotes are rarer then a hens tooth around here and have only seen about two or three killed on the side of the road. man it looked freaky ill probably never seen one again.

It's pretty susbrban around here, and when i used to work as a bartender and come hom ein the middle of the night i saw em a few times.
The way they trot along is the giveaway. At first they look like dogs, then i'd be saying, hmm that dog trots along in a non dog-like manner.
One night i saw one trotting down the road alongside a busy street on a saturday evening around 7 o'clock. It was still light out, and lots of people were around. I slowed down next to him, and he looked up at me, then as if he found me boring just went back to trotting nonchalantly down the side of the road.

Same deal here in Ohio. Imagine mountain biking and seeing one pop out a run across the road. Kinda freaky if you're not used to seeing them.

I have them around my house all the time. I have a double fence around the parimiter of my 6 acres. They come as close as they can without crossing the fence, about 100 feet. My neighbor had one come up on his front porch and bite his dog.

The ones I have seen around here must have crossed with dogs, they are not the long lean coyote look. They are becoming a big problem around here.

I see them all the time in Arizona, sometimes when hunting, at other times they are just roadkill
But back east, I've never seen one, except on a hunting video.

I love seeing them just because they're so elusive. It usually means you're doing a great job hiding yourself or sneaking through the woods.

In PA, there is no closed season on shooting them.

I don't that the coyote is the problem....it people building houses where they live...gotta love urban sprawl.
