Binoculars?

Anyone know of a good set of binoculars? I'm looking for a set that is about the size of a 6x6 square or so...nothing huge.

Thanks

Roof or Porro?

For roof, Nikon Monarch ATB. Combination of 8 magnifications/objectives avail. I have the 8x42. Really sharp.

I love my Burris Signature 8X32s. They are only 4" by 4 1/2" and have really good optics. They have a great field of view and weigh very little, meaning they're on me when I need them, not back in my truck.

I live in a condo downtown and w for the coming months I'll have direct roof access which is 26 stories high...gotta get the eagle eye view from up there while I can.

Also, I do some hiking and the places I go have some amazing views especially this one place where you can see deer from the top of the valley bu they are waay down and off in the distance...would be cool to get a better view.

Hmmm,
The roof, are you looking to peer into windows or what? It doesn't take much to do that unless someone is far away
Regardless the first number is your magnification, the higher the number, the harder it will be to hold steady and get a good view. The second number is the amount of light gathering of the objective. Bigger = better light gathering if all other things are equal (quality of glass & design type).

My bino's are no longer available (Tacso LE 7-21x40), but these are very close and the site has more info that might help with the decision.

Tasco Essentials 8-20x50 Zoom Binoculars ES82050 w/ FREE UPS

Regular price: $77.95
Sale price: $59.95

Also these are more compact, but might just fit the bill if your mainly going to use them in bright light situations.

Tasco Essentials 8-24x25 Porro Compact Zoom Binoculars ES82425 w/ FREE UPS

Regular price: $49.95
Sale price: $44.95

I'm not trying to sell you on these, but mine are by Tasco and have suited me well over the years.

Best of luck on the decision.
I'm not sure about the second link but the first one is very close to mine and has the ability to be used with any camera tripod for those long off, I can't hold it steady situations.

EDIT: If you want to know about nighttime/low light use, read this article a friend of mine wrote a few years back. Wide field views in Winter Skies by Steve Coe
