Awesome True Story!

Have any of you read or listened "Under and Alone"? I just finished the unabridged audiobook and it was fantastic! It isn't full of fantasy super ninja stuff it is real world.

If anyone likes to read or listen I would highly recommend this one.

Book:

Audiobook: (The narrator of this book is really good)

Another great audiobook is "Shadow Divers." There's an abridged and unabridged version and I listend to the abridged version. I will say that the narrator Campbell Scott is incredible and you will find yourself sitting in your car waiting to hear more. This is a true story as well.

Ok, educate an audiobook newbie please. What is the difference between abridged and unabridged? One is a full version and the other is edited/condensed? If so, which is which?

You are exactly right

Unabridged means that the audiobook is being read word for word from the printed book. So, if the book is some huge 600 page monster it is going to be a LONG 13+ hour book depending how fast it is read.

Abriged means that the book is not read word for word. Sometimes this means that details are left out but not always critical details. For example the detailed 3 page description of a characters feelings in a situation may be left out and instead abbreviated by describing those feelings in say a couple sentences. In the Shadow Divers book the abridged version is amazing and is already 6+ hours...the unabridged is 15 hours.

I've listened to so many that I have some favorite narrators and they can make a huge difference in a story. As a matter of fact my choice of the abridged version of Shadow Divers was because of the narrator.
