If you are used to things being conducted in a certain fashion and then someone comes along and twists things around, you might step back and say WTF and go on the defensive. As for talk radio, I don't know why conservative talk radio is so popular and liberal is not.

Liberalism is about feelings and emotion, not logic and results. The mantra can only be repeated so many times, then it gets boring. Once this happens, the emotion goes away and people don't want to listen anymore. After all, results are not the important thing, feeling good is. I tried to listen to Air America, but it was a dreadful imitation of Rush mixed with a little Stern and couldn't stand it.

I personally think the way to prevent Islamic fundamentalists from trying to harm the US is to reduce our presence in their countries. They would not come here if we were not there.

This is just very simplistic and not reality. AQ and others have hit Islamic countries and others that are not Christian and have stated that we are the Great Satan and are perfectly willing to kill over 2000 other Islamics a month to get what they want. The hatred of the US and the West is their power base. Without someone to hate and have a Jihad against, the leaders of these groups loose their followers and their power. If we left tomorrow they would still come after us, and they would be greatly empowered since they pushed the greatest power in the world (the Great Satan) out of the country. This would be a huge recruitment boom for them.

judging by the statements from the administration about how al qaeda is stronger than ever and we need to stay committed, wouldn't that mean that our being there has been a huge recruitment goal for them? 'we kill 1500 a month' and it happens every month!? wow, that means that if recruiting is down that they had (1500/mo X 12mo/yr = 18000, 18000/yr X 4yrs = 72000 al qaeda and other anti-iraqi forces since the war started??) well over 50 thousand al qaeda just sitting in wait in the middle east for us? that's like a third of what we sent to the country for the invasion isn't it? 150,000 troops, give or take... blue force manual says something like 3:1 for an effective attack, right? 5:1...?

The same thing that they are killing our troops and 2000 local Islamics a month with. They have hit the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Russia, Thailand and others...and oh yeah that little 911 thing here. They are very well equipped to do damage anywhere on the globe. The best tool to fight them with is the US Military. Other methods were tried, and failed.

Afghanistan (formerly), Iran, Syria and others are ALREADY terrorist states. There is no worry about terror spreading, it already has. Setting up a stable democracy in the heart of the Middle East is what these countries do NOT want. It is these countries that are funding and manning the forces that we are fighting. That's why they call them insurgents.

Who died? The ones that helped us and believed in us. And guess what? We SCREWED them and their families because we promised that we would support them and didn't. And people continue to die because it is still a communist country where individuals mean jack squat. Burma, Cambodia, and others? How many have died AFTER we left?

Same goes for Iraq. Are you willing to sacrifice all those that supported us and the gains that have been made over there so we can run away with our tail between our legs AGAIN? Are you willing to make the lives of our soilders that have made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq meaningless? Because that is what will happen if we simply walk away.

Thank you for sharing. When you pay my mortgage I'll be concerned with your assessment of my political affiliation however incorrect you may be. Personally, I wouldn't trust anyone who couldn't spell "trustable" even if it was a word. Try "trust worthy" next time.
