Ron Paul has his faults, its just that his foreign policy is so refreshing that it overshadows them.
This being a gun forum with a more right wing crowd so you may not be against this but he pro life and is one of those people who would like to see Roe vs. Wade overturned. Ron Paul doesn't really have a solution for health care. I think it was no government involvement, status quo sort of thing. I personally believe the health care system needs some kind of overhaul. As a healthy 25 year old, I'm paying ridiculous amounts of money for health and dental as a student. He doesn't believe in the notion of seperation of church and state, a stance I find fairly dangerous. He doesn't support federal funding of student loans, which as a student, is a pretty big deal. No Stafford loans would be a huge burden on some students. I know many people who borrowed their way to college and this might be a step backward. He doesn't believe that the government should be involved in education. Some might view this as good, some might view this as bad. Individual counties and municipalities would be responsible for their own education. This might be well and all if your in a fairly well off neighborhood but if you happen to live on the wrong side of the tracks, your SOL. However, government mandated No Child Left Behind has a lot to be desired so whether this is a good or bad thing..not so sure. Ron Paul isn't perfect but I still think he is one of the better choices. |

I'm gonna keep saying this, whether anybody listens or not
Frankly it seems counterproductive to invest a lot of time, emotion or energy arguing presidential candidates before the primary. The issue will be decided in the various states and then each party will form a ticket, which they think can win. Sometimes I think these committees making that decision are staffed by heavy crack-smokers, given the candidates and running mates they offer the voting public. Of course we are supposed to be stupid and swayed by party affiliation, so they think we will vote for Pluto and Daffy as long as they are blessed by the party with which we are generally affiliated. So take a deep breath, and don't get excited yet. There are lots of lies waiting to be told by and about candidates, as they exist at present. Once the party selections are made, take a hard look at what each side offers based on your priorities. That's what I'm going to do. Nobody is going to get my vote unless I am truly convinced that they are not going to screw our brains out on 2A issues. I am sick of voting for the 'lesser of two evils'.
