Glad my PSD is a 7.3, runs strong as hell with 130k on the clock, gets 13 in town and 19 on the highway with an auto.

I just picked up a 2002 Ford F-250 Powerstroke 7.3L. The 7.3 has a much better reputation than the 6.0. Not sure about the 6.4 yet tho...

They really did shoot themselves with that motor. It's too bad because the 7.3 simply does not have the problems of the 6.0.
I will give Chevrolet this much though, as stated, the Allison is the best tranny of the heap.

The Duramax is not nicknamed DuraJunk for nothing. The Dodge is really nice. I know a guy that has his all hooked up with superchip's and a laptop. He does a lot of traveling hauling horses around between San Diego, up to Napa and all all around Arizona. Last I heard he had about 150,000 miles on it and not single problem

What somebody really needs to do is put together a truck with the Cummins motor, Allison tranny, solid front axle, and Toyota's tight body construction. You'd get 400k miles out of it, easy.

I have mentioned my Dodge problems before, so what the heck, one more time won't hurt.
Granted, I had a 1996, with only 180hp and 300+ torque, but here are some of the problems I had: Went thru 2 radios until I bought an aftermarket, non-dodge one. 2. Had the rear rebuilt at less than 100k and I only towed a 1300lb trailer with 2 pwc. The bearings were shot. 3. Rebuilt again at less than 200K because the tube (can't recall exact name) by the rear end went only as high as the rear end and had a cap with a hole in it. Chevy/ Ford's went much closer to the bed of truck and had a one way valve in it. I ended up getting water in mine when launching my pwc and it destroyed the rear end. 4. Brakes on my 3/4 ton were the same used on the Surburban 1/2. I only obtained 8k-10k miles, mostly freeway driving. At least 1 new rotor every brake job. This changed in the 2000 model when the Chevy was redesigned. I did get 20mpg at 70-75 tho. Also, I did get 225K on it before I sold it. When I bought it, I intended to go the distance on the engine (400-500K), but since I sold our 4 PWC and it was hurting my back, things changed. I will never buy a Chrysler product again. I won't even go into my 95 Intrepid's problems. Also, from every mag I have read, including CR, their handling is much heavier feeling than Ford, Chevy, Toyota or Nissan. I will agree the engine is very good. I did have a problem with a small dowell like pin that dropped and destroyed the front part of the engine, costing me $500. Cummins fixed that defect in 98, but never told any of its customer with earlier models so we could get it fixed before it occurred. I do wish you good luck with yours. When you post a thread like this you open up alot of "conversation" about which is the "best." You will get arguments all day and all night about which is the best. The "big three" (Dodge, Ford, Chev) will have people who hate each brand and you will have people who love each brand. Much like the firearms market. I have heard, just heard mind you, that the cummins engines and the 7.3 power strokes are well known for going over 1 million miles.
PS Excellent choice!!!! It's what I would have picked!!!!!!
