Talking Stay off the sidewalks....

As of today I'm legal to drive Class A (tractor-trailer) vehicles, which means I officially know enough to be really dangerous.

The final skills and driving tests weren't really that hard and my downshifting is coming right along, so now I've just got to take the next step and find the right job. My thanks for the advice and support I got in my last thread about this stuff. I'm sure I'll have other questions for the more experienced drivers in our midst, so stay tuned.

Thank you sir, and I'll do my best to keep the engine braking to the downgrades where there's nobody around but the rattlesnakes.

Heh heh....it is kinda fun to do it in a tunnel. Sounds like a couple dozen Harleys with all the echoes and freaks people out a bit.....

I've heard good things about them. My first pick is to find some local work due to the home situation, but if I have to go OTR I'll see what I can work out. Thanks for the endorsement.

Congrats! Would someone explain how engine breaking works? I mean, I know it is loud but what is the process and how does it slow down the truck?
