Gun Safe

First like to say I did do a search you would be amazed by how many times the word safe comes up. Basically looking for opinions on a good gun safe. Something for both riffles and pistols, and a lil extra room for some valuables. Fire protection would be nice but not required. I don’t see me ever owning more then 10 long guns so it does not have to be super sized. Just looking for good suggestions in the 200-600 price range. I think I am in the 60x23x19 range. Thanks in advance guys.

i have a Visalia 206090 and its served me very well...ample space, reasonably priced.......if your concern is just keeping the little one out of were you are going to be keeping your pistol....by a little firesafe at walmart...its heavy as hell so they arent going to be able to move it and its lockable. i just padded it up with eggshell foam and it sits by my bed side and i rigged a light so when i open the lid a small red LED light turns on. works perfectly and i can have it open and gun out in a matter of seconds

The line they have at Dick's (if you have them nearby) is decent. I believe their 22 gun safe was on sale around the holidays last year for around 450. I believe the brand was StackOn, and the safe was solid and fire res.

I ended up buying an Oxbow (same as a Cannon but 2 guns less and not as pretty). However w/ delivery and the humidity rod, it's a few hundred out of your price range.

Just my .02, I got a Outpost 14 gun safe at Sport Authority, weighs in @ 350lbs...already feeling the beginning stages of cramped. While you don't see yourself owning more than 10 long guns, don't be surprised when you do. If you're anything like me, that is. Get the biggest one you can a) afford, b) have room for, and c) are willing to move if you move.

That's my opinion. Here's a link to my thread about my safe:

The info/pics are near the bottom.

Waloo!

Cheap yet effective against small kids like mine.
Hope this helps.

Around $50 for the pistol cabinet, around $70 for the rifle cabinet.
I kinda had a make a mad dash to get somethin lockable. My son was gettin to the age where he was nosin into everything...and I had thing still on gun racks.
Walmart hooked me up good.
Doesn't offer much fire protection, but that's what insurance is for I reckon.

I have a nice Liberty Colonial bolted down to reinforced concret floor slab. It is a nice 16 gun safe with room for papers and more. Cost was under $1K including instalation. Got a Golden Rod type anti-corrosion accesory too. Unfortunately it is going to be too small soon, we need his and hers. Those cheap HOMAK and Stack-ON things are barely acceptable for storing ammo, not guns. At least with a real gunsafe you can keep your toys from getting burned to a crisp in case of a fire too.
