Cool Those crazy Japanese are at it again

Wow.....sci-fi becomes reality again over in Japan. Nothing says "cool" like a powered exoskeleton that reacts to your body movements. I see military contracts in this company's future....

Wow, all I can really say is wow.

Imagine if you were wheelchair bound (quad, parapalegic), you might be able to walk, and even be able to carry your kids, suitcase, etc...

If they had these a few years back, Bonds wouldn't have had to use steroids

Yup, that was more than 30 years ago.

This exoskeleton thing I had read about maybe 10 years ago or so. IIRC, the US Army already has something like this either on the drawing boards or already in testing.

When you think about it, there's no real breakthrough technology with this. Everything needed already exists in real-world applications.

Peace,
D.

Don't you watch anime? It's entirely obvious that all they dream about is having giant robots.

I've been an anime fan from back in elementary school. Robotech got me started; one day I flipped on the tv after school and saw this show about tranforming fighter planes fighting 50-foot-tall aliens called Zentraedi who flitted around in Battlepods. I didn't know (or care) that it was the Americanized version....it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.

Then, fast forward to Generation 3 of the story. We have these mecha called Cyclones, which is why this video clip really caught my eye. If they could only combine the exoskeleton with a reconfiguring motorcycle.....

*sigh*

And I'm secure enough with myself I can admit to having a good-sized geeky streak...

Delija, you beat me to it as I was going to mention the same thing. I recall reading something years ago about the military working on just this type of thing. It would permit soldiers to carry heavier loads, i.e. more ammo and more equipment.

It is still pretty amazing; especially when one considers its possible application to disabled people.
