The behaivor they exhibit is the same as a Pitt, a pitt just has the size to back it up.

We have a pitbull at my office. He was rescued from a horrible car accident over a year ago and is a fine dog. I have known many people who have owned them and not one problem. Pit bulls are very family oriented, very mild mannered, and very quiet and loving animals.

The misconception comes from the dogs that are trained as attack, or guard dogs, mistreated tremendously, or suffer from brain damage due to long exposure to the sun and hot temperatures.

I hate that these dogs get such a bad rap, they really are near the top of any breed for a family pet due to their wonderful nature. Like any species though, if you mistreat them or teach them over time to hate then they will become angry and mean. You do not want a pitbull who is angry or mean, those suckers can rip just about anything to shreds.

also a lab attacking someone isnt news nobody cares but if a pit does it all over the news as mindless killing machines. we never hear about the thousands upon thousands of good pits. i used to be afraid of them when all i had to go by was the news but now since i have met a few and seen them raised correctly i wouldnt hesitate to leave my child with one that i raised. if a child yanks on a labs tall really hard there is a good chance it will be agressive i have seen my friends kid just f$&k with his pit and the dog just sits there and takes it

I have one. I will admit I have seen a huge improvement in him since I followed Ceasars teaching. he was never extremely agressive but he would charge the fence and stuff. Now he is mellow and does exactly what I want.

What do you mean by experience? I have never had one for a pet, but some neighbors had 2 of them. The dogs were trained and they treated the dogs well (like Cesar Milan), but one day they jumped a 6 foot fence and mauled a retarded kid in our neighborhood and almost killed him. The kid wasn't pestering or annoying the dogs, unless playing in his yard counts.

My current neighbors have one they keep in a 3x3x3 cage in the backyard all day. They let it out to feed it and that's about it. I think he's about 1 year old, but he's too big to keep in a cage that size. I called animal control, but they won't do anything about it since "they can't take my word for it". That dog's gonna snap one day and when it does I pray that my wife isn't outside.

That is definitely a shame...I have no problem admitting that some dogs (of all breeds) simply go nuts....but it is not isolated to pits

Recipe for disaster (with any dog)...You could make the best trianed/nicest dog in the world go nuts like this....hope nothing bad happens...I really wish animal control would get invovled more of your tax dollars hard at work
