Gun Range Tragedy

Just saw on local news that some guy went in to a gun range today to rent a gun and when he got inside the range he committed suicide using the very gin he rented...Luckily no one else was hurt though..

This happened at a range near here last year I believe. The guy shot rounds off and waited until the end when no one was left but the range master and did himself in at the lane where he was shooting.

So sad.

I've heard of similar incidents at the ranges in TX.

At my range they only will rent you a gun if you walk in with a working gun.

I always wondered why that was....

Sad.

Sadly, this happens quite a bit. This is the reason why many ranges have cameras, to prove that the person killed themselves and did not get killed on accident.

The ranges around here flatly refuse to rent to any single person who walks in. period. For this very reason.

Better he did it there, than driving 100 mph and killing somebody else. Same rules out here since a couple guys did it. You either have to bring in your own gun in order to rent a range pistol, or have 2 guys together (I guess people don't shoot themselves with somebody else there).

I read the article and I guess the guy had been friends with the range owner for the past 15 years and had came to the range often in the past years. Its hard to say if those policies mentioned would have done anything to stop the suicide but it really doesn't matter. The gun control nuts will simply tout this as a reason to ban guns while disregarding the fact that many will kill themselves with knives or pills or any other object available. Rather than attempting to solve the root of the problem they will want to ban the means. Their "ban guns to prevent suicide" argument should be in Webster's under "Idiocy" or "Asinine".

silly, before guns there wasn't any suicide... and what little there was was much less fatal
