Home Safes.. whats a good one?

Need a semi small one.. around or a little bigger than 12-14" high and deep...

I found this site, http://www.valuesafes.com/ but I dont know which ones are good or not.

This is just what I need, http://www.valuesafes.com/fireproof_...html#firefyter, the FF1000..

Would that be good to keep paper work, money and a pistol in?

And what do you do to stop someone if they were to break in from taking it from the house, how do you bolt it to the floor?

thanks

I have a full size gun safe, so I don't have any knowledge about the size you are looking for. With that said, you might want to check Canon safes (mine is a Canon). They have 2 office/home type safes, tho they may be a bit larger than what you are looking for. The thing about Canon, they have a lifetime warranty and you don't pay for shipping if it has to go back to the factory, they do.

Here is the link.

As far as securing them, I would suggest you contact someone at whatever safe company you will deal with, as to whether it can be secured to the floor. Full size safes generally have pre drilled holes inside that allow you to bolt them to a foundation. I don't know if the smaller ones do or if a plate comes with them for that purpose. In any case, ascertain first if your home has a post tension concrete slab. If you do, there are cables that crisscross the slab, usually in the middle of it. If you hit one while drilling, you could be injured or killed; it has occurred. That's why I didn't drill mine in. Good luck.

The best safe is the one behind your eyes.

That's the line I got the first time I went safe shopping, by an old timer who looked like he'd rather sit on his stool than get up and show me anything. It was strange, so I left. Lol.
