Ok I gotta get some steam off. Im still hot about this. Here we go from the beggining. I just moved up to Columbus Ohio from Jax Florida in Feb. It was march sometime, I was on the way to a job interview. On the way there, I got pulled over. The officer came up to my passanger side window,he said put your window up about 6 inches. I do he checks my window tint. He says this reads 30% the law is 50%. I say im sorry sir I just moved here from jax fl and there I was a professional window tinter this was tinted to the legal limit as a demo vehicle. As im explaining this to him I am giving him my lic and ins cards. He is looking at my wallet as I do this and notices another license. He says is that your florida DL because thats another violation. I say no sir. He says let me see it. I hand it to him as I place my handson the steering wheel. He reads it outloud a concealed weapons permit huh. I say yes sir, he says do you have a weapon on you now. Yes sir I do. He jumps back puts his hand on his gun Stay right there he says. He come to my side of the vehicle. Where is it I piont. He lifts my shirt and takes it holster and all. He goes to his car. Returns 45 min later with 3 tickets. Tint, tag which was in my floor and I had also explained that it was in my dash and just fell out, and the big one a CCW failure to notify. To make a log story a lil shorter, I went to court about 4 times.Last time was Aug 1st. They gave me two options, plea guilty and they will give me my gun back and brand new xd45 burnt earth service model. Or two a bond forfiture and $200 fine and they destroy my gun. I deffinately did not want a conviction of a m1 on my record so I had to give up my gun and i have to pay $200. So upsetting. I wasnt trying to hide anything if I was I wouldnot have had my CCWP in plain sight like that. AAAAHHHHHH sorry for the book but had to vent to people who would understand.

thanks yeah it really sucks because of it I lost alot or respect for cops. Not all of them I am friends with a bunch in fl but now I just hang my head when I see them.

I am not sure what the law is in Ohio but I am sure it is close to the same in Michigan and I only live about 20 miles north of the Ohio border but Michigan law states you must tell the officer when you are pulled over that you have a conceal carry permit even if you don't have a weapon with you and I think that Ohio might have the same laws.

Anyways that really sucks, my experience with cops I do not know have not been good either. I use to get tickets for anything the cop could think of at the time for my car. I too was a window tinter at one time and I thankfully got out of one ticket. I use to get tickets for stupid car related things, plead not guilty then the officer would get pissed off and a few weeks later I would receive more tickets before going to court. My buddies who are cops just laugh it off now. Now I own bone stock cars except for my drag car and if I do get a stupid ticket the judge just lets me go.

Whoops didnt mean to rant that long. Well what I have gained from your post is to notify the officer regardless everytime no matter what.

Well the law up here is that you must tell them. But I had just got here like I said and when I took my class in Fl they taught us not to tell them. It is not law that you must. He said thell them if the ask, do not lie. But dont just volunteer it because the cop would get excited and accidents do happen.

Sorry, when you drive tint, you are just
asking to be noticed...by LEO! Tint was
designed for two things, to look cool and
to hide behind it (or at least think that you
are). Used mostly around here by dopers,
druggies and drug pushers. This is my
opinion.

No doubt that you were legit and earning
a livelihood in a job which you surely
enjoyed doing. albeit having a demo tinted
vehicle yourself.

Sounds like LEO around the Columbus OH
area. Taking away your machine sucks!

If you can afford it, I would engage legal
counsel to have the charges dropped and
also get your legally owned firearm back.
If not, those charges are going to stick on
your record and can/will be addressed if you
have any future traffic stops. Good luck!

First mistake. Moving away from the wonderful freedom of the Great State of Florida

Second Mistake. Moving to Columbus, Ohio(AKA Little Moscow).

I am a lifelong Ohioan, and I must say that this state sucks when it comes to gun rights and our pansy ass cops.

It was designed to keep the inside temp of the car cooler.
Try driving in Phoenix without window tint...
