LEO's & Intellegent people, I need help, screwed up

I need advice cuz I just did something stupid.

I, per doc's orders need to exercise/swim for my heart. We have a membership to a hotel where for a fee, we can use the pool, provided we, just as the guests follow the rules.

Rules in part are, no running, jumping, horse play, balls or alcohol.

The wife and I were there with 2 six year olds, in the "deep" end swimimg in an area about 3 foot by 6 foot, the girls were just droping down to touch bottom then coming up.

A teenage girls group was there, with parent chaperons. Parents were watching, drinking beer (not all, just some). Teenageres were :running, horesplay, jumping and playing pool volleyball.

After hitting the wife and myself a few times with the ball, ( I asked them to try to keep ball from our small area. They laughed. Ball kept coming our way, closer to our girls. Finnally I did the stupid thing.

I told the girls I had a knife and could stab the ball (incorrect / mis type:and them hitting us). They said it was an accident, I said fine, please stop hitting us.

They told mommy's what happened. Mommys told the manager. Manager asked me what happened. I told her they keep hitting us with the balls, that they are not to have in the pool. She had no reply and leaves the pool area.

I go ask manager what is going on. 2 mothers say that when I threatened to stab the ball, I was thereatening the kids lives. I said it was a ball, the ball is going to hit my kids. They said they called the police tohave me arrested.

I told them I would leave the pool. And we did. The manager says that nowhere does it say no balls in the pool. I showed her. she had nothing to say.

Am I going to be arrested if they filed complaint.
I had no knife on me (swimsuit)
I showed no knife.
Moms and kids said, in presence of manager that I threatened the ball, not the actuall kids (which they said is the same).

The wife is in tears over this. Help me out. Please

I would hazard a guess that since you left the area nothing is going to happen. Unless you live in Mayberry, a LEO isn't going to spend too much time on your threatening a ball.

Aside from that, I think you should choose better words next time.

Two thoughts:

You live in Toledo...hence, you're pretty screwed if they decide to press charges. Criminal threatening comes to mind. Could also be construed as assault. This is if you get an overzealous prosecutor.

Your comment was not appropriate and served to escalate rather than de-escalate the situation. I understand fully why you WANTED to say what you did, but you should not have.

In the end, if they decide to press charges, it's your word against theirs, but the "innocent children" angle will get them the support they need. Since the cops weren't there, you'll probably be okay on that angle but there's no telling.

IMO, not a good move. In all seriousness, I wish you luck. If you're concerned, consult an attorney.

It's a messed up world where you can't say you'll stab a ball without going down for threatening to 'kill children' or some such nonsense. I doubt a prosecutor could make any case out of that.

I would have just told them if it came near you again you were keeping it till their mothers claimed it and then unloaded on their mother.

I say stay away from there and join St. James Club. I know it seems expensive but the facilities are great and you get an indoor and outdoor pool. There are also lots of low impact machines. If you are interested in some guest passes let me know.

P.S. no I don't work there but I do belong.

Ah yes, hindsight.

I did ask, then tell the girls, with the mothers standing/sitting there at pools edge that I had two six year olds there that were in danger of getting hit from the ball. Moms said and did nothing.

I did try talking to the mothers and saying that just as they felt they were protecting their kids, so was I protecting my two kids. They didn't care, their words.

stupid me stupid me stupid me

Question
Did you say "I have a knife, and I'm gonna stab that ball" or did you say somethin to this effect "If I had a knife I'd like to stab and pop that damn thing" or somethin like that
Kinda like when my parents used to say "I'd really like to toss that loud stereo out the winder" or my Dad once told me "Since you like to shoot holes in the siding with your bb-gun, I'd like to wrap it around a tree"
I kinda got the idea since guns won't "wrap"

" I have a knife, if we keep getting hit with the ball, I will stab and deflate the ball". I thought I was rather specific that I meant the ball. But people hear what they want to hear, but both moms and the kid said I said "the ball", just they say that "the ball and the kids is the same thing, even though the ball not a person".
No swearing involved, about the only place I swear is here, I used to but my little one started saying things like " what the he(( is that?". That stopped me from swearing.

ah stupid me stupid me
