In the simplest terms...If you take RP out of the mix, then you have the status quo. Your options again is the lessor of two evils.
But...Is there a lessor if policy continues to spiral this nation out of control?
There is only one Republican candidate right now that will give Hillary a run for her money...and that's Rudy. Fred is not part of the mix, and even if he does enter the race, he is but another member of the status quo.
I will not use my one precious vote to support a candidate that is only interested in furthering the final destruction of this country.

I will be voting for whom I think is the best candidate. He happens to be a democrat. He will probibly not win the nomination of his party.

Now, if it comes down to Hillary vs orangutan head (guiliani) I think I would have to vote for H. Clinton and not a third party.

Richardson would be my guess!

I have to admit that in the past I pretty much just listened to the radio and took what they said as truth. This really influenced my vote. I've just recently started to get more involved and try to do more research into who stands for what.

I have said many times in the past that I don't want Hilary in the WH. That does not change the fact that at this point I will vote for Paul if he is on the ticket. If Paul takes votes from the Rep party and allows Hilary to win, it won't be Paul's fault. It will be the Republican party's fault. Democrats didn't win last November, Republicans lost. They stand a good chance of loosing in 08 too with the course they continue on.

Maybe it will take Hilary winning in 08 to wake up the Republican party. To get them back to the basics. I just keep hearing more of the same. I will vote for change. Maybe it won't happen this election. Maybe Paul will run again in 12'. Maybe someone a little less radical will pick up the ball and run. Maybe Libertarians will get stronger. I'm going to cast my vote to get that ball rolling. It isn't about who will win the election, it's about what is best for the country.

Look at it this way. In this country, there will always be somebody willing to fill a need. If American's said exactly what they wanted, there would be somebody step up to fill that need. But that is not what happens. The elections are run for you to cast your vote against what you don't want. We are locked in this cycle and in the end, nobody gets what they do want. If votes were cast that showed a strong shift within the Republican party towards more conservative(read small government, not religious/social conservatives that want the "Crusades II") views as Paul, I bet we would get a much stronger candidate next election. There already is a shift towards "Regan conservatism". At this point it is all talk and no show. Loose enough elections and that will change.

Great post, Powerman. I do believe that it will take a Democratic win in 08 to wake people up.
This country has been in a slide for decades, and it won't be turned around in one election cycle.
But...We can start leaning on the rudder.

I don't get it either. I wonder if any of the 'third' parties in our nation's history would've ever gotten elected with today's MSM. Generally, when the people are fed up they turn to the third party to get change.

Very good post. And sadly I agree that it MIGHT take a few steps down the wrong path before the America wakes up.

At that is what I'm so fed up with. Red vs Blue., conservative liberal, us against them. Even look at some of the responses to this thread. We are debating on how to beat the other party and they are doing the same. Paul is the only one talking about which direction this country should move.

OK fine, you don't like Paul, cool. How about any candidate. Who out there has a strong vision for this country, that is based in the Constitution, and a record to back that up? The only thing every candidate in this race looks at is how to beat the competition. They are not looking at how they can be the best for this country, they are looking at what they have to say to beat the idiot next to them. How did we get this low? How did we come to expect so little from our leadership?

We need change.
