What I find strange is that Federal law should trump city, county, & state law. If we have the right to bear arms, what is the problem? We have let the states and cities tell us what we can & can not do.

City Attorney Bernard A. Pishko said city officials were unaware of a state law prohibiting localities from banning guns.

"Apparently you have some officers who don't understand the law," said the president of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, Philip Van Cleave of Midlothian.
And when the average person does something, they say "Ignorance of the law is no excuse" Go figure.

Question. If someone saw that you were open carrying and was scared because of that, and reported you to the cops for disturbing the peace, could it be that in fact you could be ticketed and arrested for that or what?

I would guess "no". The State can't tell you it's OK to carry, then ticket you for scaring someone because you are carrying. (not counting any brandishing, etc.) Kinda like getting arrested for indecent exposure at a nudist colony.

Well, if you've seen some of the people I have at one of those, they should be.

LOL!

also, as i write this i am five minutes away from downtown norfolk. the police there are ignorant (for the most part, there are exceptions) and the city officials are scumbags. classic politicians of medium size cities trying to impress there anti-gun idols in New York and DC.
