What happens with an FFL check?

So... what happens during an FFL check? Does the gun and owner information get linked together? Does it "register" the gun? Or is it primarily to check the background of the purchaser?

But still, there is the paperwork that gets filled out.... does the FFL keep it for their own records or does it get forwarded as well?

If above are correct, looks like FTF is a much less "govment" way to go.

Cheers,

A swarm of tiny robots called 'nanobots' is released into your bloodstream from the 'pen' with which you filled-out the form.

Within minutes, they evaluate you and generate a YES or NO opinion, which is detected by the clerk's X-ray vision goggles.

They keep you on-site and distracted by pretending to make a phone call to the ATF.

After rendering their decision, the nanobots die; another example of young lives being snuffed-out by the private ownership of firearms.

This is a legitimate question, and one that may be better asked at your local gun shop.

As far as I'm aware, the "Check" is only a criminal background check (for now, till they get the "mental health" portion passed). NO RECORDS are suppose to be kept at the law enforcement side.... (if you believe that, I've got some ocean front property in Kentucky for you).
The FFL is suppose to keep the records of the sale, for how long I'm unsure. This way they have a method of tracing it back to you. Ultimately, with a single stroke of a pen (and a law passed) all the FFL records could be sent to the feds, thus starting the registry...

Jeff221,

Thanks. That's what I both suspected (current) and fear (future).

Sorry if my question wasn't clear or well worded, but Tard seems to need some more Thorazine to control his inner voice

Cheers,
