SE Wisconsin/Milwaukee Area XDtalk Range Day #2

As discussed at the first XD Talk range day, I'm working on finding some dates to have the next range day at a private club in Muskego that I go to for a pistol league. http://www.schultzgunclub.com/index.html

The format I'm proposing is IPSC for newbees. Instead of standing and shooting at paper targets, you would learn how to shoot at cardboard and steel targets following specific rules while being timed. There is one stage where you will have to move and shoot. Some of the steel targets will "activate" other cardboard targets. If you have never done this type of thing before, be prepared to have more fun than you ever have had with your XD.

The only requirement is that you have some type of holster (you'll be shooting from a draw) and at least 2 magazines, four or more is better. I would suggest 150 to 200 rounds of ammo. However, you may want more if you'd like to get in more practice.

I will be going before the club board on 7/23 to (hopefully) get permission and find out the available dates (probably in September) and the cost. My best guess at this point that we will need at least 10 people and the cost will be somewhere around $20 to $30 for about 3 hours of instruction and range time. I won't know the final cost and details until after the board meeting.

Thanks for the PM Al. I'll say I am interested, and I will keep an eye on this thread. It certainly sounds like a fantastic opportunity, especially for a n00b like myself.

I’m happy to announce that the Schultz Rod & Gun Club board gave their approval for the use of their private outdoor range for the SE Wisconsin/Milwaukee Area XDtalk.com Range Day #2. However, they need to check on the details of a few other scheduled events before providing some possible dates in September. The goal right now is for a three hour period on a weekend, but I’m open for a week night if we can get enough people who can make it at 5PM or earlier

I will be providing more details as they emerge. However, it appears that my estimate of $20 to $30 per person is very doable. Based on the available number of RO's, the limit of active participants may be capped at 20.

The format will be introduction to IPSC style competitive shooting. Depending on the size of our group, up to 4 RO's (Range Officers) will provide range safety instruction and lessons on shooting the types of targets commonly found in IPSC. The goal is to have each group go through each of 3 or 4 "stages" (course of fire) 2 to 3 times, this way you'll receive instruction on how to shoot each stage and then get direction on how to do it better.

Practical shooting is an exciting, fun, safe sport. This will be your chance to learn more about it and give it a try without having to jump into competitions or seek out the rare opportunities to get training.

This is a very special event and one that I would recommend that you do not miss. People typically spend a lot more money and travel great distances to these types of opportunities.

I would also like to join you guys this time....Last time I had to work and hope this time there is no such conflict.

Sundays are usually my best bet for a "weekend" day off.
