Just read the blotter in a major city. It'll be full of reports of people breaking into cars for the change in the ashtray. I can't figure out who is buying some of the crap stolen out of cars. I guess there is some dude in a room somewhere full of cell-phone chargers and cheap sunglasses shipping them to a third-world country.

Still, it never surprises me the number of parked cars I see with briefcases, purses, cell-phones, wallets, and expensive sunglasses all in plain view.

My 2 strangest "property crimes":
I had my truck broken into, they took a few things, including my TRASH BAG! (with the trash in it) Just one of those little plastic ones you get when you get your oil changed.

I was working at a bank, there was a back door just past the drive-thru. I had to use a garden hose for something, and it burst at the sink. I unhooked the hose and put both ends just outside the door while I was mopping up water, someone cut the brass ends off and took them!

kids these days!

Sounds like the Mountain View Area! We lived there for 8 years when I was a kid. I remember my Dad getting up in the middle of the night with his shotgun more than once or twice!
Sorry that happened to you, I hope you catch the piece of s**t that did it.

When I was at KU going to school, there was an old guy in Lawrence who was having things in his yard stolen. Little thing with little value, like gas cans. After months of this, the guy decide to plant an object and watch. I don't recall what the object was, but it was stupid. maybe a bird bath. He put it in his yard and just watched and watched for hours, waiting. That night, he saw his neighbor walk out his backdoor, into his yard in order to steal the "bird bath". The old man was pissed and started running around the yard yelling, chasing the guy. The best part was, the old man's wife called the neighbor and ask him to take the item, so her husband would go to bed. Damn, that story still makes me smile.
