Some key Treo apps:
1) PocketTunes. Turns your Treo into an iPod killer. Get cool bigbutton skins and a big memory card. You can play radio streams.
2) Ringo. If you have PTunes, you can assign MP3's as ringtones.
3) Slingplayer. Get a slingbox if you don't have one. You either know or you don't know. Biggest thing in TV since Tivo (slingbox.com).

Also-
Tricky boost to the setup: get AppleTV and a huge hard drive. Now all of your media is available anywhere all the time on almost any internet enabled device (phone, computer, etc.).
And if you get the Slingbox Pro, you can connect your home security network (cameras, etc.) to the box and have realtime monitoring of your house from your phone.
Then you get a bunch of Insteon or X10 switches, a copy of Indigo, Phlink and SailingClicker and your home is smart.
All in around ~$1K and it's a massive home entertainment/security system with remote access, monitoring and programming.

I got the iPhone when it was released a few weeks ago... It's a pretty sweet little device. While maybe not quite as usable like a PDA or BlackBerry, it's been able to handle everything I've needed it for.

A couple months ago I thought I had unlimited internet for my phone and I didnt... ran up a $600 phone bill in just internet usage. Needless to say I have unlimited now.
