The so-called "reasonable gun control" measures will take us all to the day when the last single-shot shotgun that grandpa owned is cut into pieces.

Any political figure who even mentions tightening gun control should be hanged for treason!

Obama is more than a man scared of armed citizens. Obama is a man that believe in the redistribution of wealth (as long as his money is overseas and exempt, with TK's) and for universal health care. If taken you guns away is not scary, how about if the man takes away your money, your way of life as you know it?

Obama knows that guns are not the issue. The issue is lack of personal pride and respect for human life. Guns are no way part of this equation, except for the fact that some times these animal decide to use them to commit their crimes. No guns mean crimes caused by knives, tire irons, wrench, bats or anything else they can grab. Thugs are thugs, period.

Finally, Obama was in Chicago talking on guns in order to "energize" the libs in order to vote for IL's Gun Ban. Chalk up another failure for Gun Haters.

I am not sure that there are enough Ass Weaps out there now to validate the idea that our ability to resist the government would be significantly degraded if we lost them.

If we had to fight the government today, most people would be armed with hunting weapons. The same would be true after a ban.

I fully understand the slippery slope argument and agree with it, but that does not mean that given the huge number of reasons to select a president, that someone would be out of line for not voting the "possibility of an assault weapons ban" as their ONE issue.
Obama is said to want to oppose all semi auto weapons all together...buh bye XDs, 1911s, and every other semi auto handgun, AK, AR, SKS, etc. etc. etc.

Abortion is one of those hype issues that are typical supported by the demo's (demolition to freedom). They support pro-choice (read pro death of unborn children). What about socialized/government supported healthcare at the cost of raising taxes to over 60% of your income...don't believe me, look at most of the countries in the European Union.

I think that Bill Richardson is the only pro-2A candidate in the democratic field. That said, it is still disappointing to see Obama calling for the ban. That will just escalate the rhetoric in calling for Gun Control.

None of the Republicans interest me much. If the Dems really raise the gun control flag I may just sit this one out.

There could be a silver lining here. If the Supreme Court takes the DC case and holds that the 2A is an individual right, it will be much more difficult to pass a ban. A solid holding from the Supremes could take the issue off the table.
Even though I can't stand Harry Ried, he is very Pro-Second Ammendment
and he would be the key in not letting Obama sign it, so you may have a point there.
But I'm not taking a chance at the Liberal Elitists taking away our Guns.

I wouldn't say "very". I believe there was an example recently that showed in a letter he is not very 2A, just sorta.
