I'm about 5 minutes away and believe me it's not any more appealing from here.

I don't care if you anyone thinks that I'm anti-Leo for siding with the article. It wasn't more than 4 months ago that the Delco Times had an article about a local gunshop owner in Delaware county that was burglarized by a convicted felon. That felon had used the stolen gun and murdered someone in Philadelphia and Philadelphia was trying to bring up charges against the shop owner while the felon was still on the loose.

Philadelphia needs to clean up it's act, and a perfect way to start is with the Law Enforcement and Justice departments.

The only thing I like about Philadelphia is really their miserable sports teams.

Kind of irritating how Pittsburgh and Philadelphia completely determine how the state of PA swings in the voting. The majority of the state, outside of those two cities, votes republican...

The nice thing about the crime, if there is anything that can be called nice about it, is that the majority of it is outside of center city.

I like how blame is always shifted to the instrustment (guns in this case) and folks just pile on the bandwagon regardless of what facts & stats show. Most on this site know that guns are not the problem & more gun control will only make things worst.

However, looking at the stats from the site about, which come from 2005 FBI stats. I found something that is quite odd. Also I realize you can't always looks at stats & some times stats can be used to show different conculsions. The site break downs crime number ranking based on population of the city. I just looked at popluations of 250,000 plus, 250,000 to 100,000 and 100,000 to 60,000.

What I found interesting is that looking at the top 10 cities in each population bracket was,

250,000 + 8 out of 10 had black mayors 80% *
250,000-100,000 4 out of 10 had black mayors 40%
100,000-60,000 6 out of 10 had black mayors 60%
So 18 out 30 had black mayors 60%

Now look at the top 15 cities

250,000 + 11 out of 15 had black mayors 73% *
250,000-100,000 7 of 15 had black mayors 47%
100,000-60,000 7 of 15 had black mayors 47%
So 25 of the 45 had black mayors 56%

* Keep in mind New Orleans which was #1 in 2004 was not include on this
because of the Katrina. Not syaing crime was not there, they just couldn't calulate it due to the unknown population.

http://www.ncbm.org/members_of_NCBM.html

Now looking at black mayors with population over 50,000, 47 in all

33 of the 47, 70% belong on Bloomberg's Mayors agains Illegal guns Coalition, who is against all guns not just illegal guns.

So what does all this mean? I guess you can form your own opinions. But one could say that black mayors are not very tough on crime. Instead of accepting blame, they prefer to play the blame game. So guns, gun shows, and gun dealers are the cause for all the crime in there minds. So the only solution is to ban all guns in there minds.

Vs. adddressing the real problem of drugs, gangs, repeat offenders, poor parenting and poor local leadership. As a gun is nothing with out someone behind it.

Of course its a hell of a racket for the mayors. THey blame everything on guns & fight for gun control as there #1 priority. Even though the know they don't stand a chance of banning they as they wish. When they get asked the tough questions of why has crime rates keep going up. They blame it on the guns & gun nuts that prevent gun control/gun bans. Sad part is that some many actually buy into this.

You have no business commenting on LEOs you miserable maggot! And remember, you DO NOT pay their salaries! Don't like the attitude? Then keep yer mouth shut and simply enjoy the security provided by your betters!

There are definitely a few who come across as jtkratzer describes.

Thanks for the smiley indicating that you're joking. That's a requirement when using sarcasm since we don't have standard sarcasm font.

... or filthadelphia. Either is acceptable.

I really like the Philly burbs, where I live, but the city is just a rat-hole with a handful of nice places scattered around it. Watching the evening news is more entertainment than anything, especially with TiVo. The level of ignorance and stupidity not just among the random people interviewed on the street, but among the reporters and the city bureaucrats is astounding. A few days ago, a guy with a "Glock" (the camera zoomed in on what was clearly an HK USP, you could even read the HK logo) was yelling something on a street corner. Cops opened fire with at least 80 rounds fired, killing the man and injuring 2 officers. Sylvester Johnson, the chief of police was interviewed, saying that the cops did everything right. Remember, this is the chief of police, who said:

"The man was saying something but it was incanthearable." In can't hear able.
