What c22m22c said. Also, the reason for a beveled or extended magazine well is since the non-HICap 1911s are a single stack it takes a bit more concentration to put them in.

With your typical double-stack magazine, the top of the magazine is generally much smaller than the magazine well. This provides for easy insertion/removal of the magazine.

I saw that on Shooting USA about a week ago on their Shot Show report, and about crapped myself. It looks really slick. At around $400, with the features it had, that would be tough to beat.

If I were to buy one today, it would be a Springfield. The only 1911 I have shot is a Colt 70 series, and it was really nice.
