MY wife also shoots a Bersa Thunder .380 and loves it.

Only issue with it is that it is pretty picky about what you feed it. WWB and some Federal range ammo (forget the name) both cause a lot of FTEs for her... but she never has them with PMC rounds or with the corbon jhps that she keeps in it for self defense.

I definitely recommend having her try one if you have a local range that rents them.

As for the weight... here are the physical specs from the Bersa website.

http://www.bersafirearmsusa.com/main_specs.php

OVERALL LENGTH: 6 5/8"
HEIGHT: 4 3/4"
WIDTH: 1 7/16"
BARREL LENGTH: 3 1/2"
WEIGHT: 23 oz

Went to the gun store and got to "feel" the Thunder .380. Sweet. I liked the grip better than the .380cc. The trigger pull was alright-I am used to the XD40. I would love to shoot a few rounds from it, but there is no one around here that I know of that rents guns. I keep looking for someone at the range with one, but I just keep seeing a bunch of 1911s, Glocks/XDs, and revolvers. I see some video of people shooting the Thunder .380 on youtube.com and it looks very controlled. Would like to know what rounds they are shooting. I feel like this is a winner...with some HPs in the mag.

The input from the experts has been great! Ultimately, my lovely wife needed to hold the weapon and “feel” it. I did not reveal before that my wife was injured in ffice:smarttags" />lace w:st="on">Baghdadlace> and sustained some ligament damage in her shooting hand. When comparing guns, we quickly realized that weight was a major issue. The “winner” was a very light, sleek, and grip-modified Sig 232. We went out this past weekend and she busted the cherry on her baby Sig. Very nice gun! She put about 150 rounds through it then, on a whim, shot my XD 40. 24 rounds later, her arm was hurting. So, she is VERY happy with her Sig 232 .380 auto loaded with Federal hollow points. Mama’s happy…Daddy’s happy.

For some reason Baghdad was freakishly coded in my last posting.
