That's an opinion that's going to be thoroughly challenged. I personally prefer the .45 acp, and it has nothing to do with ego that mine is bigger than yours.

Caliber isn't irrelevant. Try to eliminate a threat or a target with a .22, .25 auto, or anything else that size. Why have quite a few police departments switched to .40 s&w, .357 sig, and back to .45 acp over the 9mm? I'm sure those are ego decisions.

Compare the ballistics of the .380 auto and the 9mm? Same sized diameter, but vastly different in performance.

I'm interested to hear your point of view outside of "just because that's what I think."

My wife prefers to shoot a XD45 over a 9mm or a .40 caliber.

I'm pretty sure that I am in good shape with her. Hmmm.

Purchased my wife a Bersa Thunder .380 today. I had to get her a different firearm because of arthritis in her hands. She has a 357 S & W and shoots 38's but can no longer control the gun. We will go to the indoor range tomorrow. Hope she likes it, if not, I have another gun and will make another purchase for her.

When I took the NRA Basic Pistol course a couple of weeks ago, there was a lady that had bought a alloy frame .38 snubbie. She found it very difficult to control, so one of the instructors gave her a .38 with a longer barrel and steel frame, and she shot it much better. That surprised me because I didn't think that having the short barrel and light frame would make that much of a difference. I always thought that that would be a perfect gun for woman. Anyway, just something to think about if you're looking at revolvers.

The weight of those airweights, or should I say lack there of is the biggest issue with them. They make those airweights in .357 magnum and even the articles written by men say they just plain suck to shoot.

Glad she loved it. I guess I could look it up, but do you know the weight on the gun? There is a gun show in the area next month and I plan to take her their to see what feels good. I think we'll be in the .380 or 9mm caliber. She wants the stopping power-hollow points?
