Congrats...keep going. You'll feel better later on.
I really don't know why anyone smokes anymore. I can understand how my parent's generation got hooked - they were lied to and saw every cool celebrity light up.They knew little or nothing about all the adverse effects. However, there is NO good reason for anyone under 45 to ever start that habit. We know, now about all the adverse effects. Not just lung cancer, but all the other bad things that go along with smoking: the aging of the skin, the shortness of breath, the lessening of your immune system and other physical problems of smoking. Then there is the bad smell - everything you own smells like cigaretes...clothes, car, house...everything. Your breath is always horrible (stop gobbling Altoids - you smell like a mint cigatette!) and you smell bad as well. I can tell a smoker, by simply pasing them in the hall or riding next to one in the elevator...they stink! Most non-smokers are totally repulsed by smoking as well. Why would ANYONE want to pick up this habit? There is also he fact that its expensive and you're supporting a very bad industry. Surely, you've got better places that you can put your money...right? I am glad you quit...hopefully, you'll stay off cigarettes and lead a healthy life and not be chained to a repulsive addiction like that. - Brickboy240

I've been on again off again with smoking for a while. I first went on the patch and it worked well for about 7months. Something big came up and I went back. QUit again for about 4 months and went back agian. The last time I bought my own pack was back in Oct. I do find myself once in a while bumming a smoke off a friend if we drink.
Although it seems impossible to not smoke, you can do it. Its very hard. As the others have mentioned, stay away from people or things that you do that you usually smoke. Ie bars, etc. I can tell you that if you find somthing else to while you use to smoke, it will make it easier. For example, if you smoked in the car, chew some really strong gum. The stronger the flavor, the better. The hardest part is to pass the 3 days.(Physicall addiction is gone, but the mental addiction is still there) Once there, have you noticed how other smokers really STINK. Do you want to smell like that to others? Also, have you noticed that you probally saved around $10 for not buying a few packs of cigs? Look at it like this, if you quit smoking, you not only save your own life, but you are rewareded with money to spend on AMMO! GL and we are all here to help you if you fall off the boat. The main thing is to get back up and try agian. |

Going on 3 years smoke free for me.
Watching my sister die of Lung cancer was final straw for me. Yes, food tastes better, your clothes smell better and you won't be shunned by all the non-smokers now! You'll also have more money for guns & ammo!

still going strong!! Thank you all for the support. Hopefully some other smokers here will jump in and quit as well.
I went to the local range today, and it seemed like everyone was smoking. I held strong though. Today was by far my biggest test yet.

Good job. The withdrawals will end. Any habit can be broke. If millions have done it, so can you. Keep it up.
