Philly Mayor and IPHONE

Philly mayor was standing in line for an IPHONE, when they're are 200 murders in the city.

PHILADELPHIA — Mayor John F. Street abruptly ended his wait in line for an iPhone Friday after a passer-by asked him about the city's murder rate.
Street, who showed up outside an AT&T store at 3:30 a.m., left shortly after a 22-year-old sporting a mohawk asked him, "How can you sit here with 200 murders in the city already?" The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on its Web site.
Street told the man: "I'm doing my job," the newspaper said.
Street had planned to stay in line for most of the day, waiting for Apple Inc.'s iPhone to go on sale at 6 p.m. When he left at 11:30 a.m., Street said he planned to return to his spot.
The mayor said he wants the new device because he loves trying out the latest technology. Apple's new handheld would allow him to work some of the day outside the office, he said.
"We don't have to be sitting in City Hall to be conducting city business," he said.
Philadelphia recently had its 200th slaying of the year. Its murder rate is up from last year, the deadliest in nearly a decade.

Mayor should have said, "Well, I didn't kill them!"

I am from just outside of Philly (on the NJ side, could actually see the city from my house). Poke around the internet for stories about Mayor Street. He is pretty much a dirt-bag.

The mayor is just a man. I am not well connected and while attending a new years party with other 20 somethings at a local hotel room, in walks the new mayor of Cincinnati Mark Mallory. Seems he rents rather frequently at a friends employer, Blockbuster video, and he invited him to stop by, so he did.

As for Philly's Mayor, does he need to work 18 hours a day until the murder rate is lowered?

Mayor "Street Crime" is in short-timer mode, since a new Democratic nominee (and statistically therefore the next mayor) has already been chosen to replace him. I'm glad that I neither live nor work within the city limits - 5% wage tax for what?

awesome. He was on fox news talking about he called his office and told them he wouldn't be able to get there in time to sign some important documents so someone was bringing them down for him.

Street's a joke of a mayor... the sooner he's replaced with a real leader the better.

I'm surprised he didn't have one of his many pay to play contractors just wait in line for him.
