This worked for me.
First place several drops of acetone on the sight. I have been told that they use Loctite (or simular) to set the sight and acetone releases the loctite. Place slide in a vice with padding. I used 1/4" plywood and had to shim the upper part of the slide so it would not roll. Next I spray just the sight with canned air turned upside down. This freezes and shrinks the sight. Then wack it right to left to remove. Left to right to install. I used a 12 oz hammer with a brass punch. My smaller hammer did not move it. I was just adjusting the sight but it moved easy with the right force. To far in fact I had to move it back and forth to get it centered. I did put some brass marks on the grove but they came off with a little Hoppies. |
