Good olde bells and whistles syndrome. Yes, geocities sites were famous for it. An MSIE marquee and an animated page divider anywhere where you could stuff one. Then came the javascript effects. Then every tom, dick, harry, and even some professional sites built by amateurs could be seen with javascript mouse trailers, exposed counters, status bar effects, and [insert gaudy javascript of choice here].

Use technology to SUPPORT your content and your investment, do not make it a distraction in itself. Its like hollywood special effects, the best success is when you say, "what effects?" With websites, a design success is when everything flows, is accessible, reasonably interactive, but people dont actively notice the bells and whistles you use to make that happen.

www.taurususa.com

Not too bad a site, would be nice if they would update it with 2005 info though. And actually use it as a news outlet for their customers. Otherwise navigation is easy enough, and the site works and doesn't have broken links.

Except that I'd be almost willing to bet that the Taurus site isn't ADA compliant because of their nav system with the pop up menus.
